Introducing Black Label: Reimagined

The term “new” isn’t exactly appropriate, because this is still the place to find beautiful sensual and nude photography. Refocused is probably a better way to put it.

Bottom line: I’m killing the digital “flipbook” issues and shifting to a more “blog” based format. By doing so, I will bring you a faster, more beautiful presentation of my and my contributors’ images. I’m also going to be able to release and host even more content.

The new web based magazine is segmented into categories, including the Platinum Members Area, for ease of navigation and speedy retrieval of what you want to look at or read. The previous issues are still available as “Legacy Issues,” exclusively to Platinum Members. A Platinum Membership is now the one and only way to have unrestricted access to Black Label content. Simple and sexy, and at $39.95 annually, the best deal in this market!

There will also be plenty of free content. Of course the teasers will continue. I’ve added some new segments in order to really be able to show everyone the wonderful lingerie designers I work with, as well as some insight as to what makes Black Label tick. See the Black Label M.O. page for new details on the new categories!

Why I did this.

The meat of what Black Label is all about had been lost on the casual visitor, and the main reason for that is because as a one man operation, I simply don’t have the time to effectively deliver and market the content.

Here’s where I lift up my skirt…

My big dream was always to bring Black Label to print, because I believed (and still do) that photography looks best in print. When I began this I thought that the best way to attain that goal was to start by offering digital “issues,” and once we’d built up enough revenue, get a print run going. Sounds easy right? Wrong.

Though the idea of a digital magazine sounds compelling, its proper, efficient execution is at best sloppy. Over the last ten months I have paid attention. Though the “flipbook” idea sounds great, the hard truth is that its lost on the majority of people. If you want a magazine, you want a magazine, not a digital rendition of one. That coupled with the fact that the server/host option I have does not run it quickly enough for an enjoyable experience (and is currently the only option open to me).

This fact is further exacerbated by the fact that Black Label is solely “my baby”—funded and executed by yours truly. At this stage, I still have to work my day job, which demands of me 11 hours a day, 22 days a month. I will continue to do so until Black Label can sustain its necessary operating cost. I have spent so much time in planning and laying out the “Issues” that I have been unable to keep the quarterly schedule. There is a swath of content that has been created and has yet to see the light of day.

Analyzing the traffic to the site tells me that thousands of people want to see the content but don’t really know how, nor is there enough faith that I’ll be consistent in getting it out. My goal is to change that!

I thank my loyal fans for their patience in the evolution of Black Label. This has all been a huge learning curve for me, and I wholeheartedly appreciate your sticking with me throughout. I’m pleased to have been able to get this far independently, and look forward to taking it the rest of the way!

Cheers!
